Following the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, cleanup efforts have made remarkable progress—bringing Douglas Lake back to the recreational haven we all love.
🧹 Over 90% of Shoreline Debris Cleared
The Douglas Lake cleanup, initiated shortly after the storm, is now nearing completion with over 90% of shoreline debris removed. Thanks to the joint efforts of TVA crews and dedicated community volunteers, the lake’s natural beauty is being restored.
🚧 Key Cleanup Milestones
🪵 Debris Removal:
TVA and volunteers have worked hard to clear fallen trees, driftwood, and other debris. Over 90% of the shoreline has already been cleaned.
🌊 Floating Booms:
Temporary floating booms are still in place in select coves to keep lingering debris contained while final cleanup efforts continue.
🧪 Water Sampling:
TVA has begun routine water sampling from April to October. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) confirms that water quality is safe for recreation and swimming.
🛥 Boater Safety:
TVA completed an underwater hazard survey to ensure safe boating across the lake. Please remain cautious in coves where temporary booms are still active.
👥 Community Involvement:
We’re incredibly grateful for the volunteers and local residents who stepped up to help get Douglas Lake back in shape.
